How to Find a Female Quran Teacher Online (and What to Ask Her)
Published 28 October 2026 · Checklist
For many women, the hardest part of learning the Quran is not the Arabic. It is finding the right teacher: someone patient, qualified and, for many sisters, a woman. Searching online brings up a long list of options, and it is not always clear how to judge them. This checklist walks you through what to look for in a female Quran teacher online and the exact questions worth asking before you commit to regular lessons.
Why many sisters prefer a female Quran teacher
There is no single reason, and you never need to explain your choice. Sisters often tell us they want a female teacher because:
- They feel more relaxed reciting, making mistakes and asking basic questions in front of another woman.
- They can learn in their own home without worrying about how they are dressed if the camera is on.
- They want to ask questions about matters that relate to women, such as recitation during certain times of the month, and would rather ask a woman.
- Their daughters will be learning too, and the family prefers a female teacher for them.
Whatever your reason, a female teacher should be easy to arrange. On our classes, female teachers are available 24/7, and male teachers are also available 24/7 if you prefer. Read more about how we arrange this on the female Quran teachers page.
Step 1: Be clear about your own goal
Before comparing teachers, write down what you actually want to achieve. It changes which teacher suits you:
- Reading from zero: you need someone patient with the Arabic letters and Noorani Qaida. See Quran for beginners and new Muslim sisters.
- Improving recitation: you need a teacher who corrects makharij and rules precisely. See Tajweed for ladies.
- Memorizing: you need a teacher who plans daily portions and tests revision. See Hifz for women.
- Understanding: you need a teacher who can explain Quranic Arabic in English. See Arabic for women.
Step 2: Check the practical fit
A wonderful teacher is no help if her hours never match yours. For sisters in the USA, the time zone gap is the most common problem with online classes. Look for lessons that are scheduled in your local time (EST, CST, MST or PST) and that offer the hours you can genuinely keep: before fajr, during school hours, in a lunch break or after the children are asleep. Our guide to online Quran classes for women in the USA explains how time zones are handled.
Step 3: Ask these 10 questions before you book
You can ask these by email, on the trial form, or during your first lesson. A good teacher or academy will answer them plainly.
- Will my teacher definitely be a woman, and is she available at my hours? Ask for confirmation of the teacher before the first lesson, not after.
- Are the lessons one-to-one or in a group? One-to-one means every minute is spent on your recitation.
- Do I have to turn my camera on? You should be able to learn with audio only if you prefer.
- Are lessons recorded, and who sees my details? Read the answer carefully; our approach is on privacy and how classes work.
- How does she correct mistakes? Look for letter-by-letter correction, not a teacher who simply reads while you listen.
- What will I practise between lessons? Clear homework is a sign of a planned course.
- What happens when I miss a class? Ask whether lessons can be moved, and how much notice is needed.
- Can my schedule change during Ramadan, exams or a new baby? Flexibility matters over months, not just weeks.
- What exactly does it cost, and what is included? You should get one clear figure. Ours is $30 USD per month for one-to-one classes Monday to Friday; other schedules are custom plans. See fees.
- Can I try before I pay? A free trial is the simplest way to judge a teacher yourself.
Step 4: Use the trial lessons to judge her teaching
A profile or a description only tells you so much. During trial lessons, notice:
- Does she listen more than she talks? In a recitation lesson, you should be the one reading most of the time.
- Is the correction specific? “That letter comes from the throat, try again” is more useful than “almost.”
- Is the pace right? You should feel stretched but not lost.
- Do you feel comfortable? If you hesitate to make mistakes in front of her, it is worth saying so; comfort is part of learning well.
Our 3-day free trial gives you three one-to-one lessons with your teacher at times you choose, so you can see her style across more than one session before deciding.
Red flags to watch for
- You are told your teacher will be “assigned later” with no confirmation of whether she is female.
- The fee changes once you start, or extra charges appear that were not mentioned.
- Lessons are described as one-to-one but other students join the session.
- You are pressured to pay for months in advance before trying a lesson.
How we arrange your female teacher
When you fill in the trial form, choose “Female teacher” and tell us your level, your goal and your preferred days and times in your own time zone. We arrange a female teacher in that slot and confirm the details by email before your first lesson. If you have never had an online lesson before, our guide to how private one-to-one Quran lessons for ladies work explains each step, from joining the call to homework.
