Online Quran Classes for Women in the USA: Picking Times in EST, CST, MST and PST
Published 29 October 2026 · Scheduling guide
For Muslim women in the USA, the biggest worry about online Quran classes is often not the teacher or the lesson. It is the clock. Will the class land at 3 am? Will it move when daylight saving changes? Can it fit between work, school pick-up and dinner? This guide shows how to pick lesson times in Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific time, with real examples for different kinds of days, so you can book a routine you will actually keep.
The short answer: you choose a time in your own time zone
Our classes run 24/7. You do not have to fit into a teacher's working hours abroad or work out the time difference yourself. On the free trial form you simply write the days and times you want in your local time, such as “Mon–Fri, 5:30 am Eastern” or “weeknights after 9 pm Pacific”, and your lessons are confirmed in that time zone. Female teachers are available 24/7, and male teachers are also available 24/7 if you prefer.
Still, it helps to understand how US time zones relate to each other, especially if you are joining from a different state to family members, or you travel.
US time zones at a glance
| Time zone | Standard time (winter) | Daylight time (summer) | Example states and cities |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eastern | EST, UTC−5 | EDT, UTC−4 | New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Georgia, Florida (most), Virginia |
| Central | CST, UTC−6 | CDT, UTC−5 | Texas (most), Illinois, Minnesota, Tennessee (west and middle) |
| Mountain | MST, UTC−7 | MDT, UTC−6 | Colorado, Utah, New Mexico; Arizona stays on MST all year (most of the state) |
| Pacific | PST, UTC−8 | PDT, UTC−7 | California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada (most) |
Alaska and Hawaii have their own time zones, and sisters there are welcome too; just write your local time on the form.
The same class time across the country
If you are learning alongside a sister, mother or daughter in another state, this table shows how one lesson time reads in each zone. Each column is one hour behind the one to its left.
| Eastern | Central | Mountain | Pacific |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6:00 am | 5:00 am | 4:00 am | 3:00 am |
| 9:00 am | 8:00 am | 7:00 am | 6:00 am |
| 12:30 pm | 11:30 am | 10:30 am | 9:30 am |
| 3:00 pm | 2:00 pm | 1:00 pm | 12:00 noon |
| 8:00 pm | 7:00 pm | 6:00 pm | 5:00 pm |
| 10:00 pm | 9:00 pm | 8:00 pm | 7:00 pm |
| 11:30 pm | 10:30 pm | 9:30 pm | 8:30 pm |
Notice the pattern: a time that is comfortable on the East Coast can be very early on the West Coast, and a late-night Eastern slot is an easy early-evening slot in California. Because lessons are one-to-one, two sisters in different states do not have to share a time at all. Each can book her own slot in her own zone.
Slot ideas for different kinds of days
The best class time is the one you can protect five days a week. Here are the patterns sisters in the USA most often ask for.
Before or after fajr
Many women love to recite when the house is still quiet. Fajr time changes through the year and differs from city to city, so instead of booking “fajr time”, pick a fixed clock time that works across seasons, such as 5:30 am or 6:00 am, and adjust it later if you need to. Example: Mon–Fri, 5:45 am Eastern, before the children wake up.
During school hours
For mothers, the window between school drop-off and pick-up is often the most reliable time of the day. Example: Mon–Fri, 10:00 am Central, after the school run and before chores. Read more on Quran classes for mothers.
Lunch break
Working women sometimes take a short lesson in a lunch break, from a car, a quiet office room or home on remote-work days. Headphones help, and the camera is optional. Example: Tue–Thu, 12:30 pm Mountain.
After work
An early-evening slot works well if your commute is predictable. Leave a little buffer for traffic and maghrib. Example: Mon–Fri, 7:30 pm Eastern.
Late night, after the children sleep
This is one of the most requested patterns, especially on the West Coast. Example: Mon–Fri, 9:30 pm Pacific. Because female teachers are available 24/7, late slots are not harder to arrange than morning ones.
Night-shift workers and nurses
If you work nights or rotating shifts, choose a slot after you have rested rather than straight after a shift. You can also have different times on different weekdays. Example: Mon and Wed at 2:00 pm, Tue, Thu and Fri at 6:00 am Central.
Daylight saving time: what changes and what does not
Most of the USA moves its clocks back one hour on the first Sunday of November (in 2026 that is Sunday, 1 November) and forward one hour on the second Sunday of March. Your class is set in your local time, so if your lesson is at 8:00 pm in Chicago, it stays at 8:00 pm on your clock after the change.
A few points worth knowing:
- Arizona: most of the state does not use daylight saving time, so your class never shifts. Just mention you are in Arizona.
- Hawaii also stays on standard time all year.
- Travelling: if you visit family in another time zone, tell your teacher by email which local time you want during the trip, or keep your home time if that is easier.
- Prayer times move, your class does not: when the clocks change, maghrib and isha move by an hour on the clock. If your lesson sits close to a prayer time, check it once in early November and once in March and ask to move it if needed.
How to write your times on the trial form
A clear request gets confirmed fastest. Include:
- Your city or time zone, for example “Houston, Central time”.
- Two or three time windows you can genuinely keep, for example “5:30–7:00 am or after 9 pm”.
- Your weekdays. The standard plan is Monday to Friday; if you want weekends or fewer days, say so and it is arranged as a custom plan.
- Teacher preference: female or male (both available 24/7).
That is enough for us to confirm your teacher and lesson times by email before your first class.
Why Monday to Friday works well for busy women
Short lessons on five weekdays build a habit faster than one long lesson a week. Correction is fresh, homework is small, and missing one day does not undo your progress. Our plan is $30 USD per month for one-to-one classes Monday to Friday, at whatever hour you choose. Weekend classes, 3 days a week or other routines are arranged as a custom plan with our team. See the fees page for details.
Quick checklist
- Pick a fixed local clock time, not a prayer-relative time.
- Choose a slot you can protect on most weekdays, not just this week.
- Leave a 10–15 minute buffer around school runs, commutes and prayers.
- Check your slot once after the November and March clock changes.
- Keep the same time for at least two weeks before judging whether it works.

Questions sisters ask
Which time zone will my class be scheduled in?
Your own. Write your preferred times in your local time (for example “9 pm Central”) on the trial form and your lessons are confirmed in that time zone, so you never convert hours yourself.
What happens to my class time when daylight saving time changes?
Your lesson stays at the same local time on your clock. If your class is at 8 pm in Chicago, it remains at 8 pm after the clocks change in March or November.
I live in Arizona. Is that a problem?
No. Most of Arizona does not change its clocks, so just tell us you are in Arizona and your class stays at the same local hour all year.
Can I have a female teacher at night in Pacific time?
Yes. Female teachers are available 24/7, so a late-evening Pacific slot is as easy to arrange as a morning slot. Male teachers are also available 24/7 if you prefer.
Can my class time be different on different weekdays?
Yes. You might choose 6 am on Monday and Wednesday and 9 pm on the other weekdays. Mention it on the trial form and we will confirm each slot.
